Taijiquan as a preventive exercise for diseases.
Taijiquan is one of the branches of Chinese Wushu (called Kungfu in the West), a traditional sport. The practice of several centuries has shown that Taijiquan has great importance in the prevention and cure of some diseases. Many doctors consider, and some have written about it, that it is a very effective exercise to improve ailments and strengthen us against some diseases such as high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, heart disease, pulmonary tuberculosis and other ailments.
In the last century, Taijiquan * underwent many changes: its movements began to be more relaxed, smooth and even, as graceful as floating clouds or spring water. Many ancient movements of explosive force disappeared as did the heavy footsteps. Because of this, it became more popular with men and women, children and the elderly. During this period, great importance was also attached to its therapeutic value and the fact that it invigorates and strengthens the health of its practitioners. For this reason, it spread among the population and livestock more practicing.
*Taiji quan is read in Spanish taichi chuan.
